From Haugesund, on the west coast of Norway,
there is a band that is able to shake the ground .The Shakey Ground Blues Band was formed
on a freezy day in the spring of -97 by amateur musicians with various musical
backgrounds. ( jazz, rock and blues). They struggle as best they can playing electric blues
with respect , humour and creativity. The band practice in an old henhouse where the floor
shakes and shivers - This gave the band their name. They mostly do cover versions but have
a few self written songs.
Helge Veastad is upfront playing his guitar red hot. His vocals are
raw and soulful and he is for sure a shouter. The farmer from Vikebygd is a well kept
secret but now it's time to let him kick some butt on the Norwegian blues scene. The sound
of his slashing Stratocaster and -65 Marshall JTM 45 cuts it's way into your soul and
stays there forever.
A couple of years ago some dude showed Ådne Hauge a blues scale on
the bass with the immediate result that Ådne converted to the blues. Since that day he
has been groovin` through life with a big smile on his face. He likes to boogie real low.
Watch out girls, Vidar Støyva is a dangerously charming young man
(and also the drummer in the band). He's young and talented and has tons of experience
from jazz and rock bands. He adds a jazzy beat to their music and sure looks good in his
black suit.
Arnt Ove Kvernenes plays the bluesharp with only one simple
philosophy: Believe in yourself and play as loud as you can. He is responsible for the
descriptions of the band members and has got into a lot of trouble for just that reason.
He is also known for selling his jackets after the gigs. (And it pays well too.)
May the blues be with you and keep on harpin` !
